Sarah Shives

Assistant Direct of Spirituality, Service, and Social Justice
CIAC House (3219 N. 13th St.)

Sarah Shives joined the staff of the University in August 2013 as the Assistant Director for Spirituality, Service, & Social Justice.

Originally from Spokane, she graduated from Seattle University and lived in Anchorage, Portland, & Boston before making a home in Tacoma.  She earned an M.A. in Gender & Cultural Studies from Simmons College and is very excited to be working in a position where student development, civic engagement, and social justice intersect.

In her role as Assistant Director, Sarah connects the University of Puget Sound with the greater Tacoma community through the civic engagement efforts of the Community Involvement & Action Center (CIAC).  She is also lucky to work with students, staff, faculty & community partners on programs to promote intentional social action and personal reflection.

Feel free to visit Sarah in the Community Involvement & Action Center (CIAC - yellow house with green doors on 13th!) or email her at for an appointment.
