Sunday Night Chapel

A Christian chapel service is held in Kilworth Memorial Chapel the first Sunday of every month. The service is designed and led by students from a variety of backgrounds and in association with Chaplain Dave Wright. Each Sunday during the school year, 5:30 p.m., Sundays, Kilworth Memorial Chapel.

Friday Shabbat Services

Each Friday a Jewish Shabbat service is held in Kilworth Memorial Chapel.  This service is designed and led by students from the Jewish Student Organization along with Chaplain Dave Wright and Affiliate Chaplain for Jewish Life Erica Martin.

MLK Day of Service - Celebrate the annual Martin Luther King Jr. campus-wide Day of Service and Celebration with us on MLK Day.  Watch for more information about campus coordinated volunteer activities as a part of the MLK National Day of Service initiative as well as information about the Celebration.

Alternative Spring Break - Each year, SSSJ offers a 4-5 day Tacoma immersion opportunity.  This break is particularly focused on community service, leadership, and social justice.  Alt. Spring Break provides opportunities to pair community service with conversations with service-oriented non-profit leaders in Tacoma and Pierce County.

Alternative Fall Break is an opportunity to see more of Tacoma and give back to the community.  Spend your fall break in Tacoma working with a variety of non-profit, service-oriented community agencies and connecting with other students interested in community service.  Alt Fall Break is geared towards first- and second-year students, although all are welcome to participate.

Hunger and Homelessness Month is a month-long series of volunteer opportunities, programs, and other activities raising awareness about hunger and homelessness.  Watch for more information as we get closer. 

December

The New Light Celebration is an annual interfaith celebration of fall and winter religious and spiritual holidays.  Student leaders from a wide variety of religious/spiritual traditions offer short presentations about their holidays. In addition to participating in a service project, lots of food is consumed and canned/dry foods are collected for local food banks.

The Festival of Lessons and Carols is the annual campus and community Christmas celebration.  This service, featuring the Adelphian Concert Choir, incorporates traditional hymns and scripture readings.  Canned and dry foods are collected for local food banks.
