Volunteer with us!

Have an extra hour on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday afternoon? Passionate about reducing waste or fighting hunger? Then email foodjustice@pugetsound.edu to find out more about volunteering with the Food Justice program!

Food Salvage

Food Salvage was started in 2005 in response to leftover SUB food being thrown in the trash. Food Justice provides a way to simultaneously reduce waste while helping those in need. Now in its 9th year, volunteers salvage food from the SUB three times a week and deliver it to the Guadalupe House, a transitional house in downtown Tacoma.

Food Salvage is a great way to make a big impact in someone’s life without a huge time commitment. Volunteers are asked to commit to a one hour block on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday afternoons (sometime between 3 and 6 p.m.). Groups consist of 2 or 3 volunteers, and one person must have consistent access to a car. Students can sign up in teams or as individuals.

So please, contact us at foodjustice@pugetsound.edu and become a part of our team!
