Asian and Pacific American Student Union

The purpose of the Asian Pacific American Student Union (APASU) on campus is to bring together students of Asian Pacific heritage with those interested in Asian cultures and to offer activities that share our cultures with the larger communities of the university and the city of Tacoma.

APASU also exists to generate an atmosphere of discussion and action concerning Asian Pacific American political issues.  In addition to continuing traditional activities and events, we strive to promote awareness of larger social issues by bringing in guest lecturers like Lt. Dan Choi with the help of Diversity Theme Year.  For our off-campus goals, we work to develop a network that allows students to connect with community groups and institutions that offer opportunities to promote volunteerism.  Join us Thursdays at 6 pm in the Student Diversity Center.

APASU was one of the first clubs I joined when I arrived at Puget Sound, and it’ll definitely be the one I’ll miss the most.  Because of APASU, I’ve been able to connect with a huge range of people on campus and develop myself both as a person and a leader throughout the years.  Many of my favorite college experiences involve other APASU members, who have become like another family to me.”   -Jodie Young ‘11, APASU Co-President
