On Friday, February 19, 2005, there was a groundbreaking ceremony for Puget Sound's newest building. Trustees and contributors to the building's construction wore fancy maroon hardhats and broke the ground for the new science building. President Ron Thomas spoke about how the building would improve the science program at Puget Sound.
Harned Hall is designed to meet U.S. Green Building Council's Silver Rating. It will house new lab spaces for biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, computer science, and physics, and the first dedicated space on campus for environmental studies.
