The Substance-Free floor is located in the North Quad in Harrington Hall. Selected upper-class and freshmen students live in a community accommodating students who are committed to a substance-free lifestyle. This floor provides an environment conducive to the needs of students who wish to focus on their academic and co-curricular interests while socially interacting with others who abstain from all illegal substances.
The floor is housed in Harrington Hall, a smaller, more intimate residential community. The floor is located directly below the Healthy Options community, which is likely to provide a quieter, less distracting environment. Students from the Substance Free floor are always welcome to participate in Healthy Options programs and activities.
Programming for the floor will focus on resident-generated interests and concerns. Residents will be encouraged to assist in developing social and educational programs which support their desire to live and socialize without the influence of alcohol or other illegal substances.
To apply to live on the Substance Free Floor, fill out and submit an application and agreement (available with your online housing application) to the Student Development Office by May 30. You may apply after the deadline, but consideration will be on a space-available basis.
Limited space is available for continuing students on this floor. Applications for continuing students are available as of March 2 at the Student Development Office. If we are unable to place you on the Substance-Free Floor, your Housing Application will be entered in the Housing Assignment Lottery.
