Healthy Options is housed in Harrington Hall and offers primarily double occupancy rooms. There is space for approximately ten women and ten men on this co-ed floor. Harrington is a building with several lounges, a computer lab, and kitchen facilities.
Healthy Options is an environment based on the wellness concept: attempting to live a balanced, healthy life by focusing the physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, social, and vocational dimensions of wellness. To live in this community you must be committed to living a balanced lifestyle and supporting others in their efforts to do so.
One of the special advantages of living on the Healthy Options floor is the numerous programs and activities designed to give residents an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills needed to live a healthy lifestyle. These programs are designed to meet the needs and interests of the community, and may include first aid and CPR training, nutrition and fitness assessments, and stress and time management workshops. Many of these programs will be sponsored by the Resident Assistant, but each resident is encouraged to participate in planning and organizing these programs. Staff from Counseling, Health and Wellness Services, the Campus Ministry Center, the Physical Education Department, and Residential Programs are available as resources.
To apply to live in the Healthy Options community, fill out and submit an application and agreement (available with your online housing application) to the Student Development office by May 30. You may apply after the deadline, but consideration will be on a space-available basis.
Limited space is available for continuing students on this floor. Applications for continuing students are available at the Student Development Office beginning March 2. If we are unable to place you on the Healthy Options Floor, your Housing Application form will be entered into the Housing Assignment Lottery.
