Matt JarrellResident Director

Year Started at Puget Sound: 2012

Hometown: Federal Way, WA

Education: B.A., Journalism and Communication, Washington Univeristy

This is Matt’s first year at Puget Sound. He serves as the Resident Director for Todd/Phibbs Hall, Unit G (the transfer student house), and 47 university-owned houses around the perimeter of campus.  He is excited to collaborate with his student staff and residents to build a vivacious and inclusive community. Matt’s hobbies include running, Zumba, playing softball and spending time with his family and friends over a meal.

Before becoming a logger, Matt was elected Vice President for Activities and Associated Students President at Western Washington University.  While at Western, he was responsible for mentoring the diverse clubs on campus and representing students to the Board of Trustees, Foundation Board, Alumni Association and legislators in Olympia and Washington D.C.  After graduating, he spent two years in Austin, TX as the Membership Director for the YMCA of Austin.  At the Y he taught Zumba and organized healthy programs for the diverse families in Texas.  He couldn’t be happier to back in Washington and working in student affairs at Puget Sound.

You can find Matt’s office in Todd/Phibbs Hall room 112.  If you have a question, concern or want to show him your favorite place on campus, Matt would enjoy a surprise visit!
