Accelerating Innovation in a Global Economy
President and CEO, Physio-Control International
I graduated from UPS in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. While at UPS, I was active in leadership within the Greek system and was also proud to be a Logger football player – back when the uniforms were green and gold and Baker Stadium was affectionately referred to as “the bog”.
After graduation, I worked for The Boeing Company for six years in operations for the military airplane division. Then, after earning my M.B.A from the Seattle University Albers School of Business in 1992, I joined Physio-Control International. Physio-Control is the world leader in emergency medical products, marketing its products in over 100 countries.
During my 22 years with Physio-Control, the company has made several ownership transitions: initially it was owned by Eli Lilly, then Bain Capital, then publicly traded, then Medtronic, and now recently back to Bain Capital. This has afforded me the opportunity to participate in many transaction-related activities as well as very interesting integration and divestiture activities.
I've held a variety of leadership positions in the company, including vice president of operations, vice president of commercial sales, and vice president of global marketing. In 2006 I assumed the top spot as president of the company.
I credit my strong liberal arts education at UPS with providing me a solid foundation to assume general management responsibilities for a global market leader.
