Sustainability, Style, and Scientific Objectivity in the "Ithaca" Episode of James Joyce's "Ulysses" by William Kupinse, Department of English
February 25, 2013 @ 4:00pm — Wheelock Student Center, Murray Boardroom
A lecture by William Kupinse, associate professor of English, sponsored by the Deptartment of English, and Humanities Program in conjunction with the Modernist Versions Project at University of Victoria.
By analyzing the episode of the modernist masterwork that James Joyce himself described as "a mathematico-astronomico-physico-mechanico-geometrico-chemico sublimation" of central characters Stephen Dedalus and Leopold Bloom, Professor Kupinse's lecture will address the question: did James Joyce envision LEED-certified architecture before its time?
