Film Viewing: An Inconvenient Truth Behind Waiting for Superman

This film viewing will allow a grassroots parent group, Parents and Friends for Tacoma Public Schools, to present the recent film, An Inconvenient Truth Behind Waiting for Superman, State Legislative Representative Marcie Maxwell will speak after the film, followed by a public discussion relating to education reform and the current issue of charter schools in Washington state. Ms. Maxwell is from the 41st Legislative District and is on the state's Education committee. Parents and Friends for Tacoma Public Schools, is hoping to raise awareness and to help parents think about the pros and cons of charter schools as reflected in Initiative 1240 which will be decided in Washington this fall. The group is “dedicated to strengthening our public schools and providing a forum for parents to have a voice in the education reform debate.”
