9 a.m.–4 p.m. at Memorial Fieldhouse
University of Puget Sound

TACOMA, Wash. – This year, the popular Women’s League Flea Market at the University of Puget Sound is introducing an 8:15 a.m. “Side Door Sneak Peek” to allow early-bird shoppers to have a look around ahead of the market’s official opening.

Once the main doors open at 9 a.m., the league expects more than 3,000 visitors to pour into the market, now aptly known as the Flea Market and Fieldhouse Full of Awesome Stuff. Families, neighbors, friends, and treasure hunters are invited to come to this community event between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Memorial Fieldhouse, near the corner of Union Ave. and N. 11th St. in Tacoma. Early admission is $10, and from 9 a.m. on, it is $5. Parking is free. Tickets are available at the door.

More than 70 booths will offer antiques and collectibles, vintage items and clothing, jewelry, books, repurposed items, home and garden accessories, creative works and crafts, locally sourced foods, and much more.

In its 47th year, the market is a tradition for many in the South Sound, who come to enjoy the vast array of goods at stalls, including Grandma’s Attic, the Boutique, and the Silent Auction.

Music will be provided by soulful rock singer and guitarist Kim Archer from 1–2:30 p.m., with food available from the café, food trucks, Ice Cream Social, Hometown Dogs, and The Galley food truck from 7 Seas Brewing. A raffle will be held in the lobby for items donated by the market vendors.

All proceeds from the event support University of Puget Sound scholarships for students. Last year the flea market raised $25,000, all of which went toward scholarships. In total last year, Women’s League endowed scholarships provided $34,000 in financial aid to 12 talented Puget Sound students.

To make donations of goods to be sold at the market, please contact Lynn Raisl at 253.241.1802 or send an email message to lynnellenraisl@gmail.com.

The market is the largest event organized each year by members of the Women’s League at the University of Puget Sound. It has been held since 1968, after a member of the league traveled to Paris, France, and was inspired by a visit to a flea market there. The league was founded in 1900 and has been supporting the university and its community since that time by selling tickets to concerts, publishing cookbooks, fundraising, and hosting events, and encouraging league members' continuing education.
