Logger Track Teams Make Impressive Debut as Season Starts

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Puget Sound track and field teams started their indoor season this weekend at the University of Idaho's Vandal Collegiate on Saturday. Jon Lee highlighted the day as he won the triple jump in his Logger debut.

Jon Lee and Chris Lee both made some noise in their Logger debuts as they finished 1-2 in the triple jump. Jon Lee leaped 13.56 meters (44-feet, 6-inches) for the win, while Chris Lee posted a mark of 13.37 meters (43-feet, 10.5 inches).

The impressive Logger debuts continued with Cameron Braithwaite, who took third in the long jump with a jump of 6.53 meters (21-feet, 5.25-inches).

Senior Matt Klein, the reigning 10k NWC champion, looked to get his season off to good start in the 3,000-meter run. He placed ninth with a time of 8:59.33.

The Logger women also had some newcomers highlight the day. Allanah Whitehall was the Loggers top finisher on the track in her Logger debut as she came in 10th in the 60-meter dash. Elizabeth King had an impressive debut on the pole vault as she took eighth with a three-meter (nine-feet, 10-inches) vault.

Maggie Rowe was the top finisher for the Logger women. She took seventh in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.5 meters (4-feet, 11-inches).

The Loggers will head up to the University of Washington next weekend to continue their indoor season.
