WinterFest: Songs and Carols From Around the World

TACOMA, Wash. – The Adelphian Concert Choir and Voci d’Amici  invite you to a WinterFest event of music, singalongs, and readings where everyone can share in the religious and cultural festivities of people around the world.

Winterfest: Songs and Carols From Around the World  will take place in Kilworth Memorial Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. The renowned Adelphians and the Voci d’Amici a cappella singers will be led by conductor Steven Zopfi. University of Puget Sound Chaplain David Wright will present complementary readings of poetry and prose from various cultures. Ticket information is below.

The evening and afternoon events will include music from Nigeria, England, Germany, America, France, the Iroquois Nation, Latvia, and Israel, as well as traditional Christian favorites and carols. Additional musical performers will include Margaret Shelton ’11 on harp; accompanists Laura Bleakly ‘13 and Lukas Perry ’13; percussionists Brian Ernst ’13 and Gabriel Lehrmann ’16; bass Alex Adams ’14; and Jeremy Wilson ’12 on drums.

The program will include traditional English carols such as O Come All Ye Faithful and Joy to the World; the French traditional carol Ding Dong! Merrily on High; a four-part rendition of the Spanish Ave Maria; a song from Three Latvian Carols by Andrejs Jansons; the traditional Iroquois gathering song Yanaway Heyona; the Hanukkah melody Ma’oz Tzur; and works by German composer Felix Mendelssohn and modern American composers Randall Stroope,  Michael Fink, Robert Evans Holmes, and Jeffery Ames.

Admission is $8.50 for the general public; $4.50 for seniors (55+), students, military, and Puget Sound faculty, students, and staff. Any remaining tickets will be available at the door.
