Nila M. Wiese is Professor of International Business and Marketing at the University of Puget Sound, in Tacoma, Washington. 

Prof. Wiese has taught undergraduate, graduate, and EMBA courses in the United States, Central America, and Asia. She was named University of Puget Sound’s Nat S. and Marian W. Rogers Professor from 2007-2009 and 2017-2019; served as Academic Vice-Provost of the Universidad de San Pedro Sula, Honduras from 1998-1999; and is the current Conference Chair for the Academy of International Business, United States-Western Chapter.  She has professional experience in banking, consulting, and executive training. Prof. Wiese has also worked in small business development in Central America and the State of Washington.

Prof. Wiese’s teaching and research are in the areas of International Business Strategy, Business in Latin America, Base of the Pyramid Markets, Leadership, and Gender Issues in International Management. Her most recent work includes the book Business in Emerging Latin America, 2015 (; the case Danone in the Latin American Bottled Water Market [IBEC 2016-Best Case Award; Special Issue of the Journal of International Business & Economy, 2016); and the article “The Effects of Institutional Quality and Market Potential on the Agglomeration of Fast Food Franchises in Central America,” Special Issue of Management Research: Journal of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management, 2017.
