Bill is jointly appointed in History and Classics, and teaches in the Honors Program. His courses cover classical languages and the political, social, cultural, and economic history of Ancient Greece and Rome. He works on popular violence and riots in the Greek and Roman world.
Bill Barry teaches ancient Greek and Roman history, including courses on ancient empires, the ancient city, and Alexander the Great. He has a broad interest in Roman social and political history and in his research focuses on popular and urban violence in the Roman world, particularly in Alexandria, Egypt.
