Fundamentals of the Occupational Therapy Process

This course provides students with an overall understanding of the process of occupational therapy (OT) practice, as well as fundamental knowledge and skills for clinical practice and ongoing professional development. Fundamental knowledge and skills include developing general professional behaviors and a professional development plan, maintaining client confidentiality, using universal precautions, understanding healthcare policies that impact OT practice, developing therapeutic use of self, understanding roles of of interprofessional teams, applying measurement oprinciples to assessment, demonstrating basic clinical documentation skills, and applying ethical principles to practice.

Prerequisites: Admission to OT program.
