HIST 102

Western Civilization: 1650-1990

This course traces the development of the social, political, and intellectual forces that shaped modern Europe from the Ancient Regime to the present. Emphasis is placed on the enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, the rise of nationalism, the impact of war on society, and the emergence of the ideologies of communism and fascism. The final part of the course focuses on developments in Western and Eastern Europe since 1945.

Prerequisites: Students who have HIST 102 transfer credit may not take this course.
