The History of Literary and Critical Theory

Beginning with antiquity and ending with our own postmodern moment, students familiarize themselves with the concepts and stakes of the critical tradition. Areas to be covered may include Classicism, Neoclassicism, Romanticism, New Criticism, Reader-Response, Marxism, Psychoanalysis, Structuralism, Post-Structuralism, Cultural Criticism, and New Historicism.
