In this course designed for non-English majors, students read about and then apply contemporary composition theory to writing for various audiences and purposes. As they do this, they have the opportunity to examine their own writing practices and the practices of their professors; explore the ethos, pathos, and logos of effective arguments; understand narrative theory and put it into practice; and design and create their own writing assignment. Many students choose to write a personal statement for graduate or professional school. One or two students have the opportunity to edit a collection of essays produced in the class.
