Latino Literature

This course explores the cultural production of Latinos/as in the U.S. from the nineteenth to the twenty'first centuries. Students examine novels, short stories, memoirs, poetry, essays, theatre and/or film in order to better understand the complexities of the Latino/a experience in the U.S. Students explore various themes related to this experience, including concepts such as cultural identity, hybridity, border writing, immigration and migration, exile and gender. While many of the texts are written in English or English and Spanish, this class is conducted in Spanish.
