This course introduces students to the principles and practical applications of bioinformatics in the understanding of biological data. Students use computational tools to analyze and critically evaluate genetic data, as well as test molecular and evolutionary genetic hypothesis using these data Students also develop a literature-based understanding of the connection between bioinformatic analyses and field experiments. Prerequisite: BIOL 111, 112, and 311; 211 and 360 recommended. Offered every other year. Offered Fall 2013.
