Financial Aid
As an independent college, we recognize our responsibility to help meet the financial need of students who want to invest in a rigorous liberal arts education. On average we offer need-based aid awards to approximately 65 percent of our students. Award packages typically combine scholarships and grants, loans, and student employment.
Apply for Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Designate on your FAFSA that you want your application information sent to the University of Puget Sound by including school code #003797. You must reapply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA each year.
The easiest way to complete your FAFSA with accurate tax information is by using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. In a few simple steps, you may be able to view your tax information and transfer it directly into your FAFSA.
The financial information you and your family provide on the FAFSA will be analyzed and used to calculate your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) — how much you and your family are expected to pay toward higher education. Should you or your family’s circumstances be different from the information submitted on the FAFSA, or there are extraordinary circumstances that impact your ability to contribute to your educational expenses, you may request a review of your special circumstances.
If you are completing the FAFSA as a dependent student, you will need to provide your parent's information. Although you may consider yourself to be independent, the Department of Education is extremely strict with regard to determining dependency status for financial aid purposes.
Early Decision I admission applicants must also complete the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Financial Aid Profile form. Students applying under Early Decision II or the regular admission timeline do not need to complete the CSS/Financial Aid Profile.
You may also be required to submit additional documentation in order for us to process your financial aid award. You will be notified of any documents needed. If you have any questions as to which documents you need to complete, please check your financial aid status on your Cascade account.
Application Deadlines
Several financial aid programs have limited funding. By completing your application by the priority deadlines below, you will have the best opportunity to receive consideration for financial aid from all funding sources.
