Why did you choose University of Puget Sound?

I grew tired of the huge lecture classes at my big state school. University of Puget Sound offered the intimate learning environment I desired. I get to forge genuine connections with my professors and classmates, and truly explore what intrigues me.

What professor has especially inspired you during your time at Puget Sound?

Professor George Erving has particularly inspired me during my first year at the university. His incredible amount of knowledge and experience, coupled with his willingness to talk to students outside of class has made me feel a part of this community and appreciated for what I bring to it.

What has been your favorite class?

My favorite class in my short year here is undoubtedly English 340: Poetry. It was not at all what I thought it was going to be, but in the best possible way.

What campus activities do you participate in?

I’ve only been at the University a short time, and I am starting to slowly branch out. So far, I’ve gotten involved in Cross Currents and the Campus Visit Program. I look forward to further exploring the wonderful activities I know our campus offers.

What is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place on campus is Todd Field on a sunny day. I make sure to enjoy the good weather while it is around, and like to break out the mitt and play some catch when given the chance.

What is your favorite food in the Wheelock Student Center?

I have to admit that I have a soft spot in my heart for the cookies, especially when they are fresh out of the oven.

What advice would you give to a prospective student or first year about the Puget Sound experience?

Get involved! Don’t be afraid to try new things! I know it sounds cliché, but this university is the warmest, most inclusive community I’ve ever had the pleasure to be a part of, and taking chances has helped me to come out of my shell.

What quirky or fun thing do you wish you had known before you came to Puget Sound?

I wish I would have known that the use of umbrellas in this neck of the woods is almost a crime in most people’s eyes. Just don’t use one…

Who is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series?

I’m a huge book and T.V. fan and would be hard pressed to choose a favorite. I’m particularly fond of Arya Stark from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series and Andy Dwyer on NBC’s Parks and Recreation.

If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?

I quite honestly have no idea. There have been so many fascinating events throughout history.

What’s the #1 most played song on your iTunes/Spotify?

Right now it would have to be Strings by Young the Giant.

If you could have one person with you on a deserted island, who would it be and why?

Any of Liam Neeson’s movie characters. I know he’d get me out of there alive!
