Why did you choose University of Puget Sound?
I was looking for a small school close to home where I could get a great liberal arts education and also continue my participation in athletics at a competitive level.
What has been your favorite course?
I took Cancer Biology during my junior year and it was an incredible class. Even though I already knew I wanted to go to medical school beforehand, this class inspired me even more. Learning about the mechanisms through which cancer develops, grows and progresses was eye-opening. It was especially interesting to learn about the current therapeutic approaches and how these target specific stages in cancer development.
What is your favorite place on campus?
Although I do love hanging out in the library, my favorite place is Baker Stadium. On clear days you can see Mt. Rainier when you’re running on the track; it’s absolutely gorgeous and it reminds me that there are bigger things in life than schoolwork and exams.
What is your favorite food in the Wheelock Student Center?
I love the salad bar because the food is always fresh and I never get tired of it!
What advice would you give to a prospective student or first year about the Puget Sound experience?
College is a great place to get to know yourself and find out what you love to do! As a first year, keep an open mind, join clubs, talk to students from different walks of life, and learn about yourself. Take advice from others, but be true to yourself and don’t let others dissuade you from your goals.
What campus activities do you participate in?
Varsity Track and Field, Greek Life, Order of Omega, American Medical Student Association
Who is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series?
Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
I would love to be able to see a game of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod?
North by Northwest - Blue Scholars
