Why did you choose Puget Sound?
I was initially struck by how ridiculously friendly this place is, and this sense that everyone has a story to tell. Puget Sound's community is academic, but more than that everyone has their own unique passion or interest. It adds such a dynamic dimension to this place to have so many diverse interests represented on campus!
What professor has especially inspired you during your time at Puget Sound?
Patrick O'Neil. He's accomplished so much and done so many cool things, he makes the world seem limitless and encourages you to think the same.
What has been your favorite class?
The economics of coffee, my first-year seminar. We explored such a culturally relevant topic to the pacific northwest, and even got to take a tour of the Starbucks headquarters and have an official coffee tasting! One day we cut the lecture early, went down to Oppenheimer Cafe and all got coffee, then sat outside and talked about what it took for us to get that particular cup of coffee. Safe to say I still can't drink a cup of coffee without thinking about that class!
What campus activities do you participate in?
Campus Visit Program, Pi Beta Phi, Mortar Board, and International Student Mentoring
What is your favorite place on campus?
Any of the little nooks in Thompson or Harned that face the courtyard. The big windows always make me feel like I'm outside and it's always quiet enough to get work done.
What is your favorite food in the Wheelock Student Center?
Garden Tortellini at the veggie station. Hands down.
What advice would you give to a prospective student or first year about the Puget Sound experience?
Take advantage of all the student services and opportunities! There are endless cool lectures and events, movie showings, theatre productions, sports games, etc. That really helps you get connected to campus, plus might give you a preview of something you might want to get involved in!
What quirky or fun thing do you wish you had known before you came to Puget Sound?
Thrift store clothes are legitimately cool here. Not just acceptable. Fashionable. And desirable.
Who is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series?
Gloria from Modern Family. One day I'll master that accent....
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
A fireside dinner with Ron Thom! I've never made it on the list for one of those, and a meal with our campus president and his wife and some cool students is essentially a dream of mine.
What’s the #1 most played song on your iTunes/Spotify?
All At Sea by Jamie Cullum. Go listen to it. Right now. Thank me later.
If you could have one person with you on a deserted island, who would it be and why?
The most interesting man in the world! Then I'd never be bored AND I'd be on my own private island
