Why did you choose University of Puget Sound?
I knew I wanted to leave my large state school after my first year. I toured a lot of small NW colleges and Puget Sound was my favorite for so many reasons. I am quite happy with my decision to make this place home!
What professor has especially inspired you during your time at Puget Sound?
Martha Webber has been my favorite instructor and I’m so sad to see her leave. I discovered clarity in her classes this past year, one that has helped me decide what I want to do with my life. I sincerely hope she returns someday to inspire others with her perfect mix of earnestness hilarity and her great wealth of knowledge.
What has been your favorite class?
My favorite class so far has to have been English 405: Writing and Gender. I knew going in that I was going to have a great time and I did. I learned so much and felt truly connected to my classmates and instructor in a way that I feel most people don’t ever get to experience in college.
What campus activities do you participate in?
I’m involved in less than I would like to admit. I’m currently involved with the Campus Visit Program as a tour guide and Cross-currents magazine. Next semester I plan on doing Wetlands and putting myself out there a bit more; it’s my last semester, better late than never. I also write a lot in my free time and won 3rd place in the University poetry competition!
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is probably Wyatt Hall. I really love chatting with my professors.
What is your favorite food in the Wheelock Student Center?
It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten on campus, but the Mac and Cheese that made an appearance on Fridays was pretty tasty.
What advice would you give to a prospective student or first year about the Puget Sound experience?
Take your time and breathe. Things may seem to happen quickly in college, but four years is a lot longer than it seems. Don’t let yourself get swept up completely by any one thing or group; explore the wide array of experiences this university will offer you.
What quirky or fun thing do you wish you had known before you came to Puget Sound?
Library streaking is a real thing…
Who is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series?
Andy Dwyer from Parks and Rec is still my favorite. He would make for an entertaining friend.
If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
I think it would be a combination of cool and terrifying to see how/when the world ends.
What’s the #1 most played song on your iTunes/Spotify?
Right now it’s a tie between anything by Kendrick Lamar (which is so out of character for me, but he’s so good!) and anything by Alt-j. So excited to see both at Bumbershoot this summer!
If you could have one person with you on a deserted island, who would it be and why?
Whoever would be the least irritating or could get me home the fastest. I don’t do well off the grid.
