What is your favorite place on campus?
The Expeditionary, or the “Expy”, is one of my favorite places on campus. This is the starting place for almost any outdoors trip at Puget Sound, whether or not it’s run by Puget Sound Outdoors. It’s a resource for students needing gear and a great place to scheme about trips and pour over maps and guide books with friends.
What attractions should visitors be sure to see?
Make a trip to Point Defiance Park. It’s one of the largest parks within city limits but feels very removed from the city when you’re there. A five mile drive loops the park and provides access to Puget Sound and numerous hiking trails. If you have time, take the turnoff for Owen Beach and experience a true, northwest, beach.
What advice do you have for prospective students?
This process will work out. There are a lot of great schools out there and your job is to figure out which school is the best fit for you. Talk with people (your admission counselor, students, faculty, staff, alumni, coaches), ask lots of questions, and visit campuses to create your own opinions and perspectives of a place. Have fun, and good luck!
