Returning Study Abroad Students

Attend one of our upcoming returnee events during September 2013!

Returning study abroad students often tell us that coming home can be more of a challenge than adjusting to another culture. Thinking about the time you have spent abroad you realize that you have changed and life didn't stand still at home either. It isn't surprising that you could be experiencing a "reverse culture shock".

There are some resources available to help you ease back into life at Puget Sound. Relying on family, friends and other study abroad alums is a good place to begin. A helpful handout is Strategies for Successful Re-entry. Finally, we hope that you will always consider the staff in International Programs as a resource to you too. To begin the semester, we plan a Welcome Back Celebration in your honor and we'll be anxious to see you at this event.

We would also appreciate you completing the program questionnaire that was sent to you earlier. Completing these questionnaires will be a great way for you to revisit your experience and know that your comments will be read by many students just in the planning stage for their study abroad adventure.

From all of us in International Programs, Welcome Home!
