On why I chose Puget Sound: I chose Puget Sound partly because it’s near my hometown in Oregon, but also because I was looking for a small liberal arts school with a strong music program, and Puget Sound is exactly that!
Favorite thing about Puget Sound and the School of Music: My favorite thing about the School of Music is that it’s a very tightly knit community. Most everybody knows each other, which I think is important in fostering an environment where we are comfortable and have the opportunity to grow with one another as young, developing musicians.
Favorite musical memory at Puget Sound: So far, my favorite memory has been singing in Opera Scenes, where I got to sing in a scene from Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) as the Third Lady. This was the first time I have sang opera literature in a real stage setting, and since I enjoyed it so much I know I must have declared the right major! I also immensely enjoyed singing in the Fauré Requiem, which I think is one of my favorite choral works. It’s absolutely stunning!
Favorite place on campus: My favorite place on campus is outside on the grass in the quad on a sunny day. Campus is so beautiful and any chance I have to take it all in is worth every moment!
