Selected string players grades 9 through 12 play side by side with guest artist Frank Huang, violin, and renowned Puget Sound string faculty members Maria Sampen, violin; Timothy Christie, violin; Joyce A. Ramée, viola, David Requiro, cello, and Stephen Schermer, bass.

String teachers are invited to audit for free. No registration is required.

STUDENT FESTIVAL PARTICPANTS RECEIVE

  • One free ticket to the Faculty Concert Saturday night. Additional tickets may be purchased online at http://tickets.pugetsound.edu or by calling 253.879.6013. Remaining tickets will be available at the door. Dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday at Wheelock Student Center cafeteria.

STRING FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES

  • String Festival Faculty Recital: Saturday, Oct. 12, 7:30 p.m., Schneebeck Concert Hall. Tickets: $12.50 general; $8.50 senior citizens, students, military, faculty/staff; complimentary for registered String Festival students and Puget Sound students. Tickets available at Wheelock Information Center, 253.879.6013, or visit tickets. Remaining tickets available at the door.

  • String Festival Student/Faculty Recital: Sunday, Oct. 13,2013, 7:30 p.m., Schneebeck Concert Hall. Free, no ticket required.

STUDENT REGISTRATION

Festival space will be limited to violin, viola, cello, and bass players in grades 9 through 12. Students are asked to submit their application forms with payment and a recorded sample of their playing via CD, audio link, or YouTube no later than Friday, October 4, 2013. Previous String Festival students do not need to send a sample of their playing.
