Academic Improvement Plans & Performance Agreements

Students who receive certain academic sanctions are required by university policy to develop plans for improvement of their academic standing. These plans may be developed in concert with the students’ academic advisors or with a counselor in Academic Advising.

Academic Warning/Probation: Academic Improvement Plan
According to the Logger, “When placed on academic warning [or probation], a student is expected to develop a plan for academic improvement with a counselor from Academic Advising or with the student’s academic advisor. Compliance with this plan will be considered by the Academic Standards Committee in deciding whether to continue the student who remains on warning [or probation] for a second term.”

The Academic Improvement Plan form is the recommended tool for the preparation of the student’s plan, though the student and advisor may choose alternative formats if they wish. Students and advisors may download a copy of this form above, or request a copy from Academic Advising. Students may choose to complete the plan with Kelli Delaney in Academic Advising (253.879.3250) if they and their advisors deem that more satisfactory or convenient.

Academic Suspension/Dismissal: Academic Performance Agreement
According to the Logger, “A student petitioning to re-enter the university [following suspension or dismissal] must complete a comprehensive plan for academic improvement [and] include an Academic Performance Agreement which has been completed with an academic advisor, or the Office of Academic Advising.”

The Academic Performance Agreement form is the required tool for the preparation of his agreement. Students and advisors may download a copy of this form above, or request a copy from Academic Advising. Students may choose to complete the plan with Kelli Delaney in Academic Advising (253.879.3128) if they and their advisors deem that more satisfactory or convenient.
