The House Bill 2722 Advisory Committee met in Olympia. HB 2722, which passed the House and Senate unanimously last session, formed this statutory committee and tasked it to create a plan to close the academic achievement gap afflicting African American children in Washington State. The Center for Improvement of Student Learning is charged with convening the advisory committee and otherwise implementing the legislation.
The Speaker of the House, the Lieutenant Governor, and Dr. Terry Bergeson appointed several members to serve on the committee, including Dr. Dexter Gordon from the University of Puget Sound.
