The class format for Accelerated Reading LC100 consists of four class sessions (three consecutive sessions at the beginning of the semester, and one scheduled later, as announced), ten sessions of computer-based reading lab (one lab per week is required), three assignments, and contributions to online discussion forum topics.
Topics include the reading process, active reading, metacognition and reading, marking and annotating, collaborative reading and learning, and discussions of reading and learning strategies. The computer-based reading program, Ace Reader, is designed to enhance eye movement and peripheral vision, and force a faster reading rate and improved comprehension through paced readings.
