Library Cards

Policies

  • All UPS students, faculty, and staff are eligible to utilize the resources at Collins Memorial Library. Affiliated users have limited access to materials. The library requires that patrons present valid identification at each checkout and pick up transaction. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Lost cards: If you lose your university ID or UPS Library issued card, please notify the library as soon as possible, so that there are no further checkouts using that card. Also, notify Dining Services if you have lost your university ID, replacement fees may apply.

UPS Students, Faculty, & Staff

  • Description: Identification cards for students, faculty, and staff must be obtained from Dining Services. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost. Replacement fees may apply if lost.
  • Expiration Date: For students, the end of the summer following the year of enrollment. For faculty, the end of university employment. For staff, the end of university employment.

Alumni

  • Description: Students who have graduated from the University of Puget Sound or students who have earned at least 7 units at UPS are eligible to use library resources. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: No expiration date.
  • What we need from you: The circulation staff will verify that you have graduated from the University of Puget Sound or that you have earned at least 7 units at UPS.
  • Note: University of Puget Sound Law alumni or Seattle University Law Alumni are not eligible to obtain a library card as alumni.

Consortium

  • Description: Current students, faculty, and staff of the PSAIL, NAPCU, and Orbis consortiums are eligible to use library resources. They are required to have their current university ID and will be required to fill out an information card. Privileges are non-transferable. ***Alumni from these consortium institutions are not eligible for library privileges at this time.  However, they can purchase a community card to obtain privileges.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: Consortium members will have an expiration date of 5/31, 8/31, or 12/31 depending on date of first UPS library use.
  • What we need from you: A valid university ID.

Community

  • Description: As a Washington State resident, you may obtain a community card to use UPS library resources. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: $100 for six consecutive months and $150 for one calendar year
  • Expiration Date: Six months from the date of purchase (six-month card) and one year from the date of purchase (one-year card).
  • What we need from you: A valid Washington State ID or a valid Washington State Driver's License.
  • Patrons must reside in Washington State.

Faculty/Staff Temporary

  • Description: Temporary Faculty and Staff are eligible to use library resources. University ID cards for temporary faculty and staff are issued at Student Accounts. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: Expires when employment is terminated at the university.

Faculty/Staff Spouse/Domestic Partner

  • Description: Spouses and partners of University of Puget Sound faculty and staff are eligible to use library resources. Cards are created at the Circulation desk in the library. Spouses will fill out an information card. One spouse or partner allowed per faculty/staff. Must live together. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: Expires when faculty or staff employment is terminated at the university.
  • What we need from you: Spouses and partners must be accompanied by the faculty or staff member the first time.

Faculty/Staff Child

  • Description: Children of University of Puget Sound faculty and staff are eligible to use library resources. Cards are created at the Circulation desk in the library. Children must fill out an information card. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: Expires when faculty or staff employment is terminated at the university.
  • What we need from you: Children must be accompanied by the faculty or staff member the first time.

  • Description: Faculty and staff who have retired from the University of Puget Sound are eligible to use library resources. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: No expiration date.
  • What we need from you: A valid Washington State ID or a valid Washington State Driver's License.

Methodist Ministers

  • Description: Currently active Washington Methodist Ministers are eligible to use library resources. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: When Methodist membership expires.
  • What we need from you: A valid Methodist Minister card (along with valid picture ID) is required to check out items.

Women's League

  • Description: Current Women's League members are eligible to use library resources. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: When Women's League membership expires.
  • What we need from you: A valid Women's League card (along with valid picture ID) is required to check out items.

Organ Guild (Tacoma Chapter)

  • Description: Current Organ Guild members of the Tacoma Chapter are eligible to use library resources. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: When Organ Guild membership expires.
  • What we need from you: A valid Organ Guild card (along with valid picture ID) is required to check out items.

Community Music

  • Description: Community Music patrons are faculty, students, and community members who teach music. Community Music instructors receive a community music card. The library honors this as a library card. Privileges are non-transferable.
  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: The end of participation in the Community Music program. Determined by the Community Music Program Coordinator.

  • Cost: No cost
  • Expiration Date: When Tacoma Art Museum internship expires.
  • What we need from you: A valid picture ID is required to check out items.  Library records have been created for all current Tacoma Art Museum volunteers.
