The library has been recycling deselected books through a socially conscious redistributor since 2006 and has recovered over $1,000 to put into the renovation of older materials in our library. Additionally, the redistributor has donated over $500 to Room to Read on our behalf. Better World Books collects and sells books online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide, which has recently been named BusinessWeek's Most Promising Social Venture with 36 percent of the vote out of 25 semi-finalists.
The library is not the only book recycler on campus. The bookstore sponsors a text book buyback program. International political economy students also facilitate an arrangement with the Learning Tree.
