Collins Memorial Library Goals 2014-2015

Strategic Goal 1:  Enhance and distinguish the Puget Sound experience (INNOVATE))

  • Teach and inform users of Primo, our new integrated library search and discovery interface, as well as continue to work with the Orbis Cascade Alliance in pursuit of a shared and seamless user experience
  • Continue to refine and improve the integration of information literacy within the majors
  • Participate in and support the 2014 Race & Pedagogy Conference
  • Implement new version of LibGuides, with enhanced chat, email, and knowledge base integration features
  • Complete, share, and take action on results of the LibQual and Research Practices surveys that will be administered in 2015
  • Highlight library services and resources by developing, in consultation and collaboration with Communications Department, a publication on Collins Library
  • Support new curricular areas with emphasis on areas associated with the Mellon Foundation grant:  Latino/a Studies, Queer Studies, Film Studies and Digital Humanities
  • Promote scholarship associated with the Archives & Special Collections through outreach programs as well as print and electronic publications
  • Develop a library impact map to align the library’s contributions with the university’s goals and outcomes
  • Create and implement a liaison assessment program to link work with broader strategic planning

 

Strategic Goal II:  Build an inspiring physical environment for learning (INSPIRE)

  • Continue to advocate for a library space that focuses on student engagement and learning and reflects 21st century learning goals and trends
  • Prepare a successful proposal for the establishment of a Archives & Special Collections research and teaching space
  • Conduct a follow up study of assessing space in the Learning Commons, in association with a review of teaching and learning spaces in the library

 

Strategic Goal III Forge life-long relationships (ENGAGE)

  • Continue to develop programs that engage community partners and showcase Puget Sound scholarship, such as Sound Idea and A Sound Past
  • Develop a Student Advisory Committee
  • Collaborate with faculty and community leaders on the art & science exhibition, DIRT!  which will be on display in fall 2015

 

Strategic Goal IV:  Strengthen our financial position, including risk management and other cross divisional issues (INVEST)

  • Complete implementation of SILS including new processes and training documentation
  • Realign job responsibilities to support new SILS
  • Continue collaboration with the Orbis Cascade Alliance in pursuit of shared work processes
  • Continue to work with TS to identify records retention and digital archiving solution to preserve records of lasting and permanent value to our institution
  • Explore the analytics reporting function of the SILS to create new reports for sharing with our community
