On the University of Puget Sound campus, many events are hosted each semester by groups such as the Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC) and Environmental Campus Outreach (ECO) for the purpose of promoting sustainability and spreading knowledge to the campus community.
Check out the Logger's Live Green Facebook page for the most up-to-date information on upcoming sustainability-related events on campus.
Planning a sustainability-related campus event? Share it with email@example.com so SAC can help promote it.
While SAC has long given grants for sustainability projects on campus, we have recently refocused these efforts and the evaluation criteria for the grant proposals to align more closely with our work on the STARS rating system. Summer grants may now be applied for on a rolling cycle rather than by a specific deadline, although priority is given to proposals that are submitted by March 11.
In addition to campus events advocating sustainability, many events not surrounding the issue of sustainability are carried out in a sustainable way. Sustainability Services helps event planners on campus to coordinate recyclable materials and recycling bins, compostable foods and materials, and/or fewer items that need to be thrown away. LogJam and Lu'au are two of the biggest reduced-waste events hosted on campus each year.
