Computer Labs

Printing from a laptop or other mobile device to any lab or classroom printer is now possible only by using vDesk (virtual Desktop).  Once in vDesk, printers which are nearby your physical location will automatically appear as options in the usual printer list for the software you are using.

Available Software

The following software programs and applications are installed on the machines. They can be accessed from the Start menu:

  • Word 2013

Word 2013 is the word processor application in Microsoft Office 2013. Word allows you to create, edit, and view documents.

  • PowerPoint 2013

PowerPoint is the presentation application in Microsoft Office 2013. PowerPoint slide presentations can be a useful visual counterpart to lectures and other presentations.

  • Excel 2013

Excel is the spreadsheet application in Microsoft Office 2013. Excel spreadsheets can be used for many things, including organizing, visualizing, and calculating data.

  • Visio 2013

Visio is a diagramming and vector graphics application in Microsoft Office2013. Visio can be used to read and create professional and engaging diagrams and drawings.         

  • SPSS 22

IBM SPSS Statistics is an integrated family of products that addresses the entire analytical process, from planning to data collection to analysis, reporting and deployment.  SPSS 2 offers over a dozen fully integrated modules to choose from.

  • Foxit Reader

Foxit Reader is a PDF viewer. It allows you to create, open, view, and print any PDF file. Foxit Reader is notable for its short load time and small file size, and has been compared favorably to Adobe Reader.

  • OIV

OIV (Offline Image Viewer) is an image viewing software application that is created by, and available through ARTstor. OIV can be used to create presentations which do not require Internet access to view.

  • Turning Point

Turning Point is a software program that can be used for interactive polling in PowerPoint, polling in any application, and self-paced polling. Polling response devices are available for checkout through Media Services.

  • VLC Media Player

VLC Media Player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, MP3, and OGG.

Find more software in the "vDesk Applications" folder under the Start menu or by logging into the Virtual Desktop.
