Peter MacDonald '76: A painter's portfolio

“I have drawn and painted mostly with the figure and, until recently, I’ve worked large.” “Rancho Higuera,” one of a series of ethereal landscapes painted on small canvases, depicts the hills and reservoir on his family’s ranch in California’s Santa Clara valley.

Boston born but California raised, Pete majored in art and continued his studies in painting and applied arts at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle. In 1986, he opened Artistic License Studios in Tacoma and worked as a designer and illustrator.

His day job as a graphic designer in the corporate world for the past six years has diverted his attention from painting. “But that’s changing,” he says.
