Director of Bands

Full-time, tenure-line position; begins Fall Term 2010

School of Music


  • Direct the Wind Ensemble and University Band, teach conducting and rehearsal techniques. 
  • Other duties may include teaching in the Master of Arts in Teaching program or other area of expertise. 
  • Provide oversight and leadership for the winds and percussion area. 
  • Recruit students and coordinate recruitment efforts in winds and percussion.
  • Other duties include continuation of professional development, maintaining a public profile as a conductor and teacher, advising students, and participation in departmental and university governance.


  • Doctorate in Music (ABD considered), record of experience and excellence as a band conductor, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and liberal arts education.


  • Rank: Assistant or Associate Professor
  • Rank and salary commensurate with education and experience.
