Betty Ellsworth

Betty Ellsworth received her B.S. in Mu.Ed. from Muskingum College.  Together with her violin professor, John Kendall, they started the first Suzuki program in the United States.  Ms. Ellsworth went on to study at the Eastman School of Music with post graduate studies in Suzuki Pedagogy.

She played 1st and 2nd violin sections with the Genesee Valley Community Orchestra from 1974-2006.  She was Concert Mistress in 1988, and Principal Viola from 1992-2006.  She was founding member and violist with the Emannuel String Quartet from 1983-2006.

Ms. Ellsworth has taught for thirty-five years.  In 1993 she received Teacher of the Year award.  She is active with the Tacoma Community College Chamber Orchestra, a Sunday School teacher, and Junior Choir Director.  Since 2006, Ms. Ellsworth has taught Suzuki violin and viola at the University of Puget Sound Community Music Department.
