Summer Opportunity Fair 2015 Participants

Camp Berachah considers Christian camping a high calling and unique adventure. Their vision and hope is to provide community and opportunities for spiritual formation through Christ-centered activities. Recreation includes swimming, horses, high ropes, zip line, go karts, canoes, biking, rock wall, archery, and crafts. Areas of employment include counselor, recreation, facilitator, leadership, kitchen, medical, security, and horsemanship.

Camp Korey is a non-profit organization for children with chronic and life-altering medical conditions. Over the summer kids get to spend a week at camp for FREE. Throughout the year they have many events such as Family Weekends, where the entire family gets to come out and have fun, and the children get to experience joy, growth, and healing in a safe environment. Employment opportunities range from a few hours, to the entire summer.

Camp Orkila: One of the Seattle YMCA summer camps, Camp Orkila is a nine-session summer camp located on Orcas Island, WA. They're hiring for seasonal positions such as Cabin Counselor, Ropes Course Facilitator, Arts and Earth Facilitator, Day Camp Counselor, Horseback Riding Instructor, and Expeditions Instructors in the areas of sea kayaking, sailing, and biking. Training is provided for certain positions.

Citizens for a Healthy Bay is a nonprofit environmental organization working side-by-side with local citizens, businesses and government to prevent water pollution and make our community more sustainable. Their internships and volunteer positions offer an opportunity to gain experience in environmental field work, education and communications skills.

City of Federal Way/ Federal Way Community Center provides a welcoming place for individuals to gather, socialize, and strengthen bodies and minds. Operated by the City of Federal Way as part of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department, they offer many different programs and activities for all ages and abilities. They’ll be recruiting for part-time and full-time positions for the summer.

Easter Seals WA Disability Services - Camp Stand By Me is a fully-accessible recreational facility providing residential summer camp and respite services for children and adults. Campers can participate in all activities, regardless of disabilities, giving each camper a fully inclusive experience that they will never forget! Hiring for Assistant Director, Activity Coordinator, Counselors, Lifeguards, Kitchen Staff, volunteers, and more.

Metro Parks Tacoma is a park district that offers hundreds of programs and experiences to the community, young and old. Camps include specialized experiences in arts, sports, and outdoor adventures as well as traditional nature-based day camping. Metro Parks also hires seasonal staff for the summer playground meal program, lifeguards for outdoor swimming pools, and park ambassadors at Point Defiance.

Purple Tie by Ridgewells: Want to be part of the U.S. Open this June? Ridgewells Catering provides food and beverage services for the Corporate Hospitality areas at the Golf US Open including Media, USGA, and Players' Dining. Purple Tie, the event services division of Ridgewells, will lead the hiring and orientation of staff members for the 2015 U.S. Open. Recruiting Servers, Bartenders, Kitchen Assistants, Dishwashers, and Operations Helpers.

Rain City Rock Camp for Girls is a non-profit dedicated to building positive self-esteem in girls, encourages creative expression through music, and cultivates a supportive community of female peers and mentors. Opportunities exist for women that do and do not play music. They hire interns year-round, but particularly need a Band Coach, Instrument Instructor, Camp Counselors, and Support Crew for the two-week summer camp.

Seafair is Seattle’s traditional summer festival. A month-long, region-wide barbecue that brings an entire community together in celebration. For over 65 years Seafair has been about community events, parades, Miss Seafair, the Navy and Coast Guard, amateur athletics, airplanes and of course, boat racing. They’ll be looking for a variety of summer interns, including marketing, PR, and event production.

Steve & Kate’s Camp: “Instead of a rigid structure, we give our campers choice. Instead of teaching kids the typical way, we give them tools and gentle guidance to help them become autodidacts. The difference is subtle–and profound.” Recruiting full-time summer employees to work as: Summer Staff (Counselors, Filmmaker-in-Residence, Equipment Manager, Office Manager, Outdoor Recreation, and more.

Student Conservation Association (SCA) is a national nonprofit that offers conservation service opportunities across the country. SCA’s mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land. They’ll be recruiting for internship and conservation corps positions nationally as well as paid field leaders.

Trident Seafoods is a harvester, processor and marketer of seafood from Alaska, Pacific Northwest and the world—#1 in the US. Operating offshore processors and shore-side plants throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, they offer opportunities to make money as a processor, or develop a career as an intern in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Environmental Compliance, Skilled Trades, as well as many other disciplines.

Underdog Sports Leagues is an Adult Coed Recreational Sports League, aimed to give everyday underdogs an activity to have fun weekly. The largest organization of their kind in the Northwest, they’ll be recruiting part-time summer employees as flag football referees, softball umpires, indoor and beach volleyball supervisors, and field ambassadors.

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties provide a supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to grow and contribute.
