Sustainability Services

Electronic Recycling Campaign 2012

The entire campus community is invited to bring their unwanted or broken electronics (even from home) to the Facilities Services Complex April 24-26. The collection area will open for three windows of time each day: 7:30-9:30 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and 3:30-5:30 p.m. Students living on-campus may deposit e-waste in collection bins in their lobbies. Most electronics are acceptable, with the exception of university-owned equipment and hazardous waste.

More Information

Welcome to Sustainability Services

Sustainability Services is a branch of Facilities Services that is run primarily by student workers. While our program was created principally to handle campus recycling, we have recently been expanding to help the campus community divert waste and operate more sustainably in many different ways. In addition to maintaining the commingled, glass, cardboard, and electronic waste recycling on campus, Sustainability Services is now offering campus community members assistance in disposing of all sorts of items that can be diverted from the waste stream but are not recyclable in the conventional sense, such as wood, metal, lightbulbs, and furniture.

Please refer to the links to the right for information on item disposal, references for questions you may have, and more information on the programs and services we can offer you at individual, departmental, or campus-wide levels.

Mission

Our mission is to serve the University community by providing an exemplary waste reduction and diversion program, offering innovative sustainability consulting, promoting the sustainability goals of the University, and providing unparalleled customer service.

Vision

Our vision for Sustainability Services is to set the national standard for student-run sustainability programs, empower our staff to be knowledgeable advocates for sustainability on and off campus, and to be an effective partner for sustainability efforts around campus.

Values

We value a strong sense of integrity, an open mind, innovative thinking, and respect for self and others. We strive to create and maintain a work environment that embraces diversity and promotes an atmosphere of camaraderie. Further, we believe in holding ourselves accountable to the campus community by demanding the very best of ourselves every day. Finally, and above all else, we value our role within Facilities Services and the University’s overall sustainability mission by providing tools for individuals to become leaders, while still maintaining a fun and transformative environment.
