The ASK Network and supporting programs (ASK Online, ASK Night) are resources of the University of Puget Sound managed by CES. The purpose of the ASK Network is to help students and alumni share career and graduate school information. Such information sharing may include but is not limited to investigating career options, gathering information about job/internship opportunities, and searching for and reviewing graduate school programs.
User Access – Students, Alumni, Faculty, Staff
The ASK Network is available to all currently enrolled Puget Sound students, faculty members, and select staff members who have the role of career advisor. The system is available to all alumni through LOGGER[net], Puget Sound’s online alumni community. When alumni agree to become ASK volunteers, they consent to having their career profiles available to all users via the system’s search feature.
While ASK members have volunteered because they want to share career and graduate school information with students and alumni, the ASK Network is not designed to be a job placement service. Although sometimes an ASK connection can lead to specific opportunities, students and alumni should not confuse the initial contact with a job interview. Approach ASK volunteers and other alumni to learn about their careers or their organizations, not to ask for jobs and internships. The ASK Network is not designed to be a job/internship-searching system; rather a clearinghouse through which students and alumni can research and share information about careers and graduate schools.
Communication between participants should be career-related in nature. Participants must refrain from using the ASK Network for any purpose other than career exploration. Faculty and staff access to the system is for the sole purpose of supporting students and alumni.
The names, mail/email addresses, phone numbers, and other information contained within the ASK Network may not be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopied, or otherwise. Additionally the University of Puget Sound does not (and will not) sell ASK Network information to anyone or any group. Information in the ASK Network is designed to be used by individual students and alumni for personal career- and university-related purposes only.
By signing up for the ASK Network, alumni participants agree to be contacted by students, alumni, faculty members, and CES staff members to provide information on career-related topics. Staff members in CES may periodically contact ASK volunteers for event- and classroom-related opportunities, and coordinate contact with ASK volunteers on behalf of Puget Sound.
Information Integrity and Electronic Communications
The reliability of the information available through the ASK Network is dependent upon the actions of alumni volunteers, who self-manage their profile information. In order to maintain the integrity of the system, ASK participants are asked to regularly review their online profiles and ensure that all information is current. Updates made in ASK Network profiles will be available in LOGGER[net] and vice versa via an ongoing data exchange process.
CES will periodically communicate via email with ASK participants to update alumni volunteers on important issues and announcements related to ASK. Please mark firstname.lastname@example.org as a “safe sender” in your email preferences so that you will receive all pertinent information from CES. Email messages sent through the ASK Network are intended for the recipients only; therefore, use, dissemination, distribution, or disclosure of such communication, including attachments, is strictly prohibited.
Liability and Indemnity
The University of Puget Sound can make no representations about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or timeliness of the information contained within the ASK Network. By agreeing to participate in the ASK Network, alumni volunteers and all users indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the University of Puget Sound and its representative agents from and against any and all losses, claims, damages, costs, and expenses that may arise from using the ASK Network.
The University of Puget Sound is not responsible for screening communications in advance, nor will it actively monitor the use of the ASK Network. For this reason it is essential that the student, alumni, and faculty users of this system report any abuses or misuse of the ASK Network to Career and Employment Services. If it is determined that a user’s participation creates a liability or that the user has violated the policies, then the University of Puget Sound reserves the right to take action against the user, which may include terminating the use of the system.
ASK volunteers may change their ASK profile statuses at any time without notice and for any reason. To do so go to your ASK profile through LOGGER[net] and in the profile status section, click on the Update button.
