Lights... Camera... Loggers! 125th Anniversary Video Contest
Calling all moviemakers!
Current students, Logger alumni, parents, and faculty and staff members are invited to enter the 125th Anniversary Video Contest. Who knows Puget Sound better than you? Help us celebrate the university's 125th anniversary by creating a short film that captures the spirit of Puget Sound. Filmmakers of all levels welcome. Grab your camcorder—or your cell phone—and get filming!
Videos must include the following:
- The phrase "to the heights" (that's the translation of the Greek in the university seal!)
- The number 125
- A reference—visual, verbal, or otherwise—to the Logger hatchet
All videos must be less than four minutes in length, including titles and credits, and suitable for all viewing audiences. Submissions containing libel or slanderous content will be automatically disqualified.
Video Submissions
Submitted videos may be posted to the Puget Sound YouTube channel; featured on the university website, 125th anniversary website, or in anniversary materials; and/or shared via the university's social media platforms.
Submissions should include:
- DVD with a high-quality version of the film for large-screen viewing and a lower-quality version for the Web. Acceptable file formats: .mov, .mp4, and .wmv
- Completed and signed contest entry form.
- Completed and signed contest release form.
Submissions are due Dec. 14, 2012, and should be sent to:

Judging
A panel of judges will review videos that meet all submission requirements based on the following criteria: video quality, visual appeal, appropriateness, creativity, and storytelling ability. Awards will be given in various categories based upon the submission pool. Check back later this fall to meet our celebrity judges!
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded in several categories to videos selected by our panel of judges—plus one special People’s Choice Award, selected by popular vote online—and include a Logger athletics season pass, registration and accommodations for Summer Reunion Weekend for two, a cash prize, and more!
The People's Choice Award vote will take place on YouTube. Qualifying videos will be uploaded to the 125th Anniversary Video Contest playlist on the university's YouTube channel in January 2013. Voting will be judged by the number of "likes" each video receives, and the winner will be named as part of the anniversary celebration.
Watch for more details about contest prizes and winner announcements in January!
